The best kind of Vitamin D is found in Res-Q Multi

If you think you are getting enough Vitamin D in milk, think again. First of all, the amount of Vitamin D found in the average glass of milk is only a small fraction of the total minimum amount that you need every day in order to stay healthy. Secondly, the form of Vitamin D commonly added to our milk supply in the form of Vitamin D2, also known as ergocalciferol, is an inferior form. Vitamin D2, a form commonly found in some vitamin supplements, milk, and cereal is the synthetic form of the vitamin and is not as effective at maintaining blood levels of Vitamin D. Therefore, you may be getting even less than you think. Additionally, some health experts now feel that this synthetic form of the vitamin, which was approved by the FDA years ago to fortify milk and cereal in order to help combat rickets, does not work the same way as the Vitamin D that is synthesized naturally by our bodies. The new research suggests that Vitamin D in the form of Vitamin D2 really should not be used anymore. Researchers believe that this form of Vitamin D may actually block Vitamin D receptor activation and not provide the same health benefits that we associate with Vitamin D.

Vitamin D3, however, also known as cholecalciferol, is a more natural, desirable form of Vitamin D, the same form synthesized by our bodies from sunlight and the better of the two forms. Vitamin D3 is preferred over Vitamin D2, due to Vitamin D3’s ability to maintain blood levels of Vitamin D.

A multivitamin should contain Vitamin D in the form of Vitamin D3 in order to provide the required health benefits. Res-Q Multi, a heart-healthy multivitamin, contains Vitamin D in the form of Vitamin D3. Three caplets of Res-Q Multi provide 800 I.U. of Vitamin D3, which is 200% of the RDA.
