Res-Q 1250 and Mental Health: Part I

The Omega-3 Fatty Acid EPA is Important to Mental Health

The increased prevalence of mental illness and the surge of new medications may indicate a greater need for prevention and the need to focus on the health of the brain.

Res-Q 1250, our high-potency omega-3 supplement, helps maintain a healthy mood. We include a healthy balance of both EPA and DHA, the building blocks of the brain, the majority of which is comprised of fats. Res-Q 1250 is effective because it is a direct source of the omega-3 fatty acids called EPA and DHA, the very same active ingredients that are identified in clinical studies published in the medical journals. Res-Q 1250 contains more EPA and DHA per capsule for less.

EPA Study
Patients diagnosed with major depression disorder were given the fatty acid EPA, medication, or EPA plus medication for 8 weeks. The combination of treatment with the omega-3 fatty acid EPA plus the medication was “significantly better” than either treatment alone. In conclusion, omega-3 supplements containing EPA are beneficial to the health of the brain. Furthermore, the fatty acid EPA is as important as DHA for complete mental health.

How does the omega 3 in Res-Q 1250 compare to flaxseed oil?

There is not any EPA/DHA in flaxseeds. Res-Q 1250 is a direct source of EPA and DHA, the beneficial omega-3 fats that are necessary for cholesterol health benefits.

The milligrams of omega-3 that you see on the flaxseed label are not in the form of EPA and DHA. Only a very small percentage of this plant based omega-3 flaxseed can be converted for use by the body into the active clinically recognized omega-3 metabolites called EPA and DHA.

In Summary
As far as a source of omega-3, fish sources are still the best way to get any useful amount of omega-3. Res-Q 1250 is derived from open sea fish that are rich in omega-3. The oil from these omega 3 fish is then purified and extracted to produce a potent, safe source of omega-3 and a beneficial heart healthy level of omega-3 that can not be obtained from diet alone. Res-Q 1250 and Bone Health

Res-Q 1250 helps keep
healthy bones
healthy.

Health
Res-Q 1250, a pure, potent omega-3 supplement, may help maintain a healthy bone weight and strength, which is common to everyone. The essential fatty acids EPA and DHA are beneficial for the bones. Res-Q 1250 provides the proper balance of the omega-3 essential fatty acids EPA and DHA for good health.

Aging
Res-Q 1250 is beneficial to maintain good bone health during aging. A diet that includes the proper balance of fats in the diet, Vitamin D, and calcium may help keep bones healthy as we age. If you are taking calcium for bone health, then you should also take an omega-3 supplement. “Several studies evaluating n-3 PUFA ranging from 3 to 6 g/day showed a modest, but rather consistent beneficial effect of these fatty acids in joint disease.”2 Taking 6-8 Res-Q 1250 capsules per day provides 4-6 grams of these omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. It can easily take 12 capsules or more of store-bought fish oil supplements to equal this amount of omega-3.

Bones
Res-Q 1250 may help maintain a healthy bone structure. You may already understand that calcium is part of the bones, but did you know that the omega-3 fatty acid EPA enhanced intestinal absorption of calcium, and increased bone calcium content? Furthermore, inflammation and a diet rich in saturated fat have been implicated in osteoporosis. Supplementing the diet with the omega-3 fatty acids helps restore the proper balance of fats in the diet, and helps counter inflammation that is common to everyone. “One mechanism by which these fatty acids prevent osteoporosis may involve inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokines IL-1, IL-2, and TNFa…”1

Why take that many Res-Q 1250 capsules per day?

One of the most commonly asked Res-Q questions is, “Why do you take so many Res-Q capsules per day?”

The answer is, “Because this is what works.”

Res-Q 1250 is highly concentrated. Even if you took one capsule a day of the most concentrated marine oil product on the market like Res-Q 1250, you would still get a better value for your dollar. It would take 12 capsules of the typical low-potency fish oil capsules to equal 6 capsules of Res-Q 1250.

Res-Q 1250 delivers health benefits that you can't get by taking one capsule of fish oil. I usually ask, “What health benefit are you interested in?” For example, taking 6 Res-Q 1250 capsules per day can reduce triglycerides. The triglycerides are an important part of the total cholesterol. If the triglycerides are high, then the total cholesterol number will also be high, and a lot of people are looking at their total cholesterol number as well as their triglyceride number.

Scientific research shows that you need 3 grams of these omega-3 fatty acids per day, which is equal to 3,000 milligrams. Taking just one or two fish oil capsules per day is not even going to come close to this amount.

As published in the Journal of the American Heart Association, “Fish oil can have a therapeutic role in the treatment of marked hypertriglyceridemia (>750 mg/dL). Effective doses of omega-3 fatty acids range from 3 to 5 g/d, which can only be obtained consistently by supplementation.” - AHA Scientific Statement, Circulation, a Journal of the American Heart Association.

As published in the research notebook of the January/February 2003 issue of the Food and Drug Administration’s Consumer Magazine, “People who have elevated triglycerides may need two grams to four grams of EPA and DHA per day provided as a supplement, according to the new guidelines.”

How does Res-Q 1250 Compare to Cod Liver Oil?

Res-Q 1250 is specifically formulated to provide the proper levels of EPA and DHA for cardiovascular health. Cod liver oils are fish oils from the cod fish. The cod liver oils that I have seen are often used for their Vitamin A content, and therefore limit their recommend daily dosage to only one teaspoon a day, which provides only a little omega-3. Vitamin A intake is often controlled because exceeding excess limits are harmful, and a little omega-3 is just not effective.

Res-Q 1250 provides cardiovascular health benefits that most fish oils can not provide. Most fish oils that I have seen do not provide enough omega-3 to be effective. Multiple reports show that 3,000 milligrams or more of omega-3 fats in the form of EPA and DHA are necessary for specific cardiovascular health benefits such as reducing triglycerides. The triglycerides comprise the total cholesterol. Therefore, the triglyceride number affects the total cholesterol number.

Res-Q 1250 is effective at reducing triglycerides, because it is a potent omega-3. Most fish oils do not provide 3,000 milligrams of EPA and DHA in a daily dosage. One cod liver oil capsule that I saw was so low in omega-3 content, that it was difficult to determine how many capsules would equal our product. The amounts of omega-3 found in the oil can vary greatly per capsule. The total milligrams of the fish oil is not helpful in determing omega-3 content and potency.

Since Res-Q 1250 is not derived from fish livers, it does not contain Vitamin A or Vitamin D. With Res-Q 1250, there isn’t any reason to be concerned about getting too much. An effective amount of omega-3 can be provided to achieve specific health benefits such as help with occasional pain reduction, and triglyceride reduction. Without a safe and potent omega-3 product like Res-Q 1250, specific health benefits of omega-3 supplementation simply would not be attainable from fish oil.

Summary:
Unlike many other fish oil products, Res-Q 1250 provides the proper levels of omega-3 for cardiovascular health.

Res-Q 1250: A pure omega-3 supplement

Res-Q 1250 is a pure omega-3 supplement. In order to produce a pure omega-3 supplement, Res-Q 1250’s oil undergoes an extensive purification process to ensure that the harmful mercury and other environmental pollutants that are known to exist in fish in harmful levels are removed. Furthermore, to ensure a pure omega-3 supplement, the product is tested to ensure that it meets manufacturing specifications.

Fish may contain mercury and other harmful pollutants which is a concern when eating fish. Res-Q 1250 undergoes an exceptional multi-step purification process to ensure removal of the harmful levels of these pollutants. The proprietary technology of our purification process ensures that the strictest testing specifications for heavy metals, environmental contaminants and oxidative impurities are met. You have to be careful. Warnings have been issued by health agencies that not all fish oils conform with the industry guidelines, and some oils may contain the same levels of mercury as fresh fish.

Res-Q 1250 meets and exceeds fish oil industry standards for purity. A pure omega-3 supplement needs to meet manufacturing specifications for environmental pollutants to ensure purity. Res-Q 1250 meets exceptional manufacturing standards for purity, meeting current legislation standards of both European and American industry standards as well as Global standards.

Furthermore, Res-Q 1250, a pure omega-3 supplement, meets exceptionally high quality standards for purification of fish oils as adopted by the council for responsible nutrition which are: PCB’s are less than .09 mg/kg, lead, cadmium, mercury and arsenic are less than .1mg/kg (ppm). This is a good test reading for an omega-3 supplement. Res-Q 1250, a pure omega-3 supplement, exceeds the mercury testing standards of max .1 ppm, meaning less than one tenth of one part per million. One part per million is a unit of proportion equal to 10-6 or .000001. The mercury test means that it is very safe, pure omega-3 supplement that is free of the harmful levels of mercury found in fish, and that you hear about on the news. Res-Q’s mercury test is truly the best!

How does the omega-3 in Res-Q 1250 compare to the omega-3 in "omega-3 oil spreads"?

Res-Q 1250 provides the proper balance of EPA and DHA, (omega-3 fatty acids) for cardiovascular health. In fact, most omega-3 fortified foods do not contain any EPA and DHA at all!

How is this possible, when the label lists omega-3?

The omega-3s in fortified foods is typically found in the form of an omega-3 fatty acid called "ALA." The problem with ALA is that the body must metabolize ALA. ALA must be converted into EPA and DHA.

So if the body converts it, then I am still getting an equal amount of EPA and DHA right?

No. You are getting very little, if any, EPA and DHA. Only a very small percentage, approximately 1-3%, of ALA can be converted into the heart healthy omega-3 metabolites EPA and DHA. Some research reports suggest that some people may lack the ability to properly convert ALA into EPA and DHA at all!

We looked at a popular name brand omega-3 spread. The added omega-3 butter substitute spread is not the right type of omega-3 for cardiovascular health!
In order to achieve an amount of EPA and DHA equal to a daily dosage of Res-Q 1250 (6 capsules per day), you would have to eat at least two huge containers of this omega-3 spread!

Summary:
It’s possible that healthy omega-3 oil spread could be a good oil to substitute for other oils, for use on your bread. However, don’t think that you can skip taking omega-3 as a supplement. Omega-3 spread does not provide anywhere near enough omega-3 that you can skip taking an omega-3 supplement. As far as obtaining omega-3 for general health benefits attributed to omega 3, it is virtually useless.

How does Res-Q 1250 compare to eating salmon?

Market Research Report

On average, you would have to eat 28 pounds of sockeye salmon to equal the amount of omega-3 fats in one bottle of Res-Q 1250. When taken as directed, each bottle lasts 33 days. Imagine eating 28 pounds of fish in one month.

Concerns over the mercury content of fish have restricted the recommendations of health agencies regarding intake of omega-3s in an individual’s diet by limiting the amount of times fish should be consumed per week.

Supplementing the diet with Res-Q 1250 is the easiest way to consume the recommended daily intake of omega-3s without having to worry about high mercury levels. We remove the oil from the fish and very carefully, utilizing special technology, extract the beneficial omega-3 parts, while discarding the rest. The result is a pure, safe source of omega-3, free of the harmful levels of mercury normally found in fish. The oil is then tested to ensure compliance with the highest industry standards for mercury levels for omega-3 supplements. Res-Q 1250 exceeds even the best standards.

I am not suggesting that people should never eat fish. I am suggesting that it is a good idea to supplement the diet with a good omega-3 dietary supplement, such as Res-Q 1250 in order to obtain desired levels of omega-3s in a safe way. Due to pollution, it is hardly possible to obtain desired levels of omega-3s naturally anymore, without obtaining mercury and heavy metals. Unless you are a Greenlander or a native Alaskan whose entire diet is fish-based, it is difficult to obtain enough omega-3s by diet alone to keep the body in an optimal state of health.

How does Res-Q 1250 compare to leading brands of fish oil?

Market Research Report

We examined Res-Q 1250 and compared Res-Q 1250 with all the major brands that we could find at the local pharmacy, grocery store, discount stores, and on the internet. We discovered that people are paying far more for their omega-3’s at the store, and even online. For example, one name-brand product that we examined contained less EPA and DHA per capsule than one Res-Q 1250 capsule. The bottle also contained 100 capsules. Res-Q 1250 contains 200 capsules. In fact, it took 14 of these fish oil capsules to equal the amount of EPA and DHA in 6 Res-Q 1250 Capsules.

It took 14 fish oil capsules to equal 6 Res-Q 1250 Capsules!

The low price per bottle may have fooled the consumer into thinking that they were getting a better value. A lower price per bottle does not always mean a better value. Res-Q 1250 is an EPA and DHA supplement. The molecules in fish oil that have been researched and are responsible for improving overall health are known as EPA and DHA.

What is the cost per gram with Res-Q 1250?

Is the triglyceride form of omega-3 better than ethyl ester?

No. The truth is that ethyl esters perform just as well in the body as triglycerides do. With all the information on the internet, it is still difficult to differentiate between “good science” and “good marketing.” Some information borders on downright nonsense or pure fabrication, while other information has some truth to it. However, studies speak for themselves. Medical journals and reports written by and for the medical community contain the most current and reliable information. The best thing to do is read for yourself from a non-biased publication.

In a twelve week randomized crossover study, an ethyl ester concentrate of EPA and DHA was compared with a triglyceride-based fish oil. Both preparations reduced triglycerides by 50%. The study used doses of 2- 4 grams. Therefore, it is the amount of omega-3 and not the form of oil that is necessary for results. It is the level of omega-3 essential fatty acids consumed daily that is imperative to attaining results, and NOT whether the supplement is in a triglyceride form or an ethyl ester form.

Omega-3s as ethyl esters are also just as equally absorbed as triglycerides. There is a difference in the rate of absorption, not the absorption ability. Both are equally able to be absorbed. In other words, one is not absorbed better than the other. There is not any difference in efficacy, either.

We offer a pure, potent omega-3 supplement called Res-Q 1250, intended to encourage the reduction of triglycerides. Res-Q 1250 provides the proper balance of omega-3 fatty acids for cardiovascular health benefits. Res-Q 1250 is available in both an ethyl ester and a triglyceride form. Res-Q 1250 is specifically formulated to deliver enough EPA and DHA for cardiovascular health benefits.

What about omega-3 eggs as a source of DHA?

There is just not enough omega-3 fatty acids in eggs to provide the benefits of omega-3s known to Res-Q 1250. It is a very, very, small amount of omega-3s in an egg. You could get more omega-3s from a three-ounce piece of salmon. Some food, like eggs, which claim to be fortified with omega-3s, do not contain ANY omega-3s in the form of EPA/DHA. Some do not contain the protective type of omega-3. And some may contain traces of DHA if you eat the yolk, but it’s a relatively small, almost inconsequential amount.

We looked at a brand-name omega-3 egg with DHA. We compared the amount of DHA to the DHA supplement in Res-Q 1250. We discovered that it takes 480 eggs to equal the amount of DHA in one bottle of Res-Q 1250. Each bottle of Res-Q 1250 is a 33-50 day supply, when taken as directed (4-6 caps per day). I don’t think anyone should eat that many eggs per month to try to get omega-3s into their diet. There are far better sources of omega-3 available. Res-Q 1250 is a direct source of EPA/DHA. You need 3-4 grams of omega-3 fats in the form of EPA and DHA for cardiovascular health benefits. Four grams equals 4,000 milligrams. When you see 150mg of DHA, measure that with up to 4,000milligrams of DHA. Results are going to be different. The health effects are going to be different for a person taking 100milligrams of DHA versus a person taking 4,000mg of EPA and/or DHA.

“Four g/day of EPA-DHA were compared with corn oil in a 5-6 month randomized study in 20 hypertriglyceridemic patients undergoing coronary bypass grafting in mid-study (Nilsen et al 1991). At the end of study, plasma triglycerides were reduced by 39% by EPA-DHA…”1

Res-Q 1250 is the best omega-3 supplement to buy.

Market Research Report

We compared Res-Q 1250 to a popular name-brand flaxseed oil supplement. We were shocked at how little omega-3 content was in the oil. The 1,000 milligrams, was 1,000 milligrams of flaxseed oil, not 1,000 milligrams of omega-3. The actual omega-3 content was only 50 milligrams per capsule! Only a small percentage of that 50 milligrams can be converted by the body into the active form of omega-3 called EPA and DHA! That is even less omega-3. Studies credit the specific omega-3 fats EPA and DHA with the health benefits you read about in magazines. These include, but are not limited to: helping to lower triglycerides, reducing inflammation, and improving such things as mood, eye sight, skin, hair, nails and overall well-being. The higher the concentration of EPA and DHA, the better the product.

We discovered that you would have to consume 50 bottles of this popular name-brand flaxseed oil in order equal the amount of EPA and DHA in just one bottle of Res-Q® 1250.

Why pay more for EPA and DHA?

Don’t settle for “fish oil” Buy the best. Buy Res-Q 1250.

Don't buy a fish oil supplement:

If your doctor has recommended that you take an omega-3 supplement, chances are, he or she does not want you to run out to the pharmacy and just buy “fish oil.” Most fish oils are just that: fish. And that’s not what you’re looking for when it comes to purified, potent omega-3s.
The best omega-3 products on the market have high concentrations of two molecules called EPA and DHA. These are the fatty-acids responsible for a myriad of heart and health benefits such as helping to lower triglycerides and reducing inflammation to improving such things as mood, eye sight, skin, hair, nails and overall well-being. The higher the concentration of EPA and DHA, the better the product.
Buy the best. Buy Res-Q 1250.
Although the active ingredients in fish oil are, in fact, EPA and DHA, many brands do not purify these ingredients or extract sufficient amounts of them to have a bearing on improving your health. Therefore a product, which is simply fish oil, may contain more fish per capsule than active ingredients EPA and DHA.
In economically tough times we tend to cut corners. We buy cheaper brands and expect the same benefits as the “good” stuff. But like tires, when it comes to buying a potent omega-3 product you simply cannot risk cutting corners and buying the cheaper brand.
The best omega-3 products on the market are typically called “marine oils,” which means they are highly refined oils that contain less fish and more of the active ingredient EPA and DHA.

RES-Q® 1250 FACTS:
Res-Q® 1250 capsules provide two to three times as much omega-3 fats (EPA and DHA) per capsule than leading brands of fish oils found in stores.

Res-Q® 1250 is one of the only omega-3 products on the market that can be considered pharmaceutical grade.

Res-Q® 1250 contains more capsules per bottle (200 capsules) than other leading brands. That’s more than three times the amount of capsules per bottle!

Res-Q® 1250 is a direct source of omega-3 EPA and DHA.
Res-Q® 1250 is ranked one of the best omega-3 supplements on the market by Natural Health Magazine (Feb., 2008). Res-Q® “makes the grade,” and has all the essential qualities of an outstanding product.

Res-Q’s patented Puremax™ process uses proprietary engineering technology to concentrate and purify omega-3s over a minimum of three molecular distillation steps. This provides ultra purity and concentration in your Res-Q® 1250 supplement.

Mothers, Pregnant and Nursing Moms need omega 3.

Many mothers are deficient in DHA throughout their pregnancy which translates to DHA deficiency in their children at birth, thus they may benefit from DHA supplementation.

We recommend that nursing mothers and pregnant women discuss the dosage of Res-Q 1250 with their physician.

Studies show supplementation beneficial during pregnancy:

  • Significantly decreases chances of low birth weight, and premature delivery
Benefit brain and retinal development of baby even if born premature.
  • Supplementation is most beneficial in the early stages of pregnancy. Even if you are thinking about becoming pregnant, it is a good idea to supplement.

Studies show supplementation recommended after pregnancy:

  • Levels of DHA are greatly depleted after pregnancy.

  • Decrease risk of developing post-partum depression and treatment of post-partum depression.

  • Breastfed babies need DHA from Mom’s breast milk. Therefore Moms need to obtain enough omega-3 in the form of DHA.

Res-Q 1205 is a supplement containing omega 3 in the form of EPA and DHA. Res-Q 1250 is intended to promote good health.*

Dogs&Cats benefit from omega-3 in Res-Q 1250

Omega-3’s may be beneficial for some pets, and recommended by some vets. We recommend that you speak with your veterinarian first.

Res-Q 1250 capsules are all natural and may be your first choice for dogs or cats. You may want to puncture the capsule to extract the oil first and mix with the pet's food. Res-Q 1250 Liquid with all natural lemon flavor is a great alternative, because you would not have to extract the oil from the capsules.

Our customer’s have told us how their dogs have benefited from the omega-3 oil. Some of the benefits reported include in some cases less tail biting, skin itching and skin health problems, and help with occasional pain. Research studies show that dogs can benefit from obtaining a larger amount of omega-3 fats to help restore the ratio of omegas in their diet, improving skin condition, and reducing inflammation. Many of our customers notice a better coat appearance.

Why choose Res-Q 1250 over another omega-3 product?

Res-Q 1250 provides the proper balance of EPA and DHA for cardiovascular health.

Res-Q 1250 is a direct source of EPA and DHA. You need EPA and DHA, omega-3 fatty acids, and not just fish oil to support cardiovascular health. Res-Q 1250 provides our customers with the proper amounts of omega-3 fatty acids to produce specific health benefits that they desire. Only 1-3% of omega-3 from flaxseed oil is converted by the body into EPA and DHA. Res-Q 1250 is a direct source of EPA and DHA. The cod fish is low in EPA and DHA, unlike other fatty fish such as sardines and herring. To obtain the amounts of EPA and DHA that you need to reduce triglycerides and obtain the health benefits you hear about on the radio, you would need to consume very large amounts of cod liver oil which could lead to consuming large amounts of Vitamin A, which is toxic if too much is consumed. Res-Q 1250 is a good, safe, potent source of omega-3 fats EPA and DHA for optimal cardiovascular health benefits.

Res-Q 1250 provides the best value for your dollar.
When you divide the cost per bottle of Res-Q 1250 by the number of milligrams of omega-3’s, specifically EPA and DHA and compare with other omega-3 supplements, you will find that Res-Q 1250 is superior in potency (755mg/cap) and value (37 cents or less) per gram of EPA and DHA. Most companies cost per gram is much higher.

Res-Q 1250 is available in capsules or liquid

Res-Q 1250 gelcaps made of gelatin, glycerin and purified water, are convenient for traveling, easy to swallow and made with a thin gelatin capsule for faster absorption. The proprietary antioxidant blend of rosemary extract, ascorbyl palmitate (fat soluble form of Vitamin C) and natural tocopherols extend the shelf life of Res-Q 1250 capsules and help prevent oxidation of the oil keeping the product fresh for one year after opening, and 3 years if unopened. Since some people prefer not to swallow gelcaps, we have Res-Q 1250 in a liquid form.

Res-Q 1250 Liquid is available in all natural lemon. The Res-Q 1250 Liquid is packaged using a high quality dense plastic designed to maintain the integrity of our Res-Q products and provide the highest level of quality to our customers. The name of the plastic is HDPE, high density polyethylene. The type of plastic that we use is different than the plastic used in some other types of beverage bottles and is considered one of the safest plastics for use in storing food and beverages and is known for not leaching harmful substances. Unlike glass, if the bottle is accidentally dropped, it will not shatter and break and is therefore safe for elderly patients and children. The Vitamin E in Res-Q 1250 Liquid keeps the product fresh, and prevents oxidation of the oil. Please refrigerate Res-Q 1250 Liquid after opening.
