Res-Q 1250 and Mental Health: Part I

The Omega-3 Fatty Acid EPA is Important to Mental Health

The increased prevalence of mental illness and the surge of new medications may indicate a greater need for prevention and the need to focus on the health of the brain.

Res-Q 1250, our high-potency omega-3 supplement, helps maintain a healthy mood. We include a healthy balance of both EPA and DHA, the building blocks of the brain, the majority of which is comprised of fats. Res-Q 1250 is effective because it is a direct source of the omega-3 fatty acids called EPA and DHA, the very same active ingredients that are identified in clinical studies published in the medical journals. Res-Q 1250 contains more EPA and DHA per capsule for less.

EPA Study
Patients diagnosed with major depression disorder were given the fatty acid EPA, medication, or EPA plus medication for 8 weeks. The combination of treatment with the omega-3 fatty acid EPA plus the medication was “significantly better” than either treatment alone. In conclusion, omega-3 supplements containing EPA are beneficial to the health of the brain. Furthermore, the fatty acid EPA is as important as DHA for complete mental health.

Vitamin D and Weight Loss

Researchers from The University of Minnesota reported that having a higher vitamin D level prior to going on a diet, produced a greater amount of weight loss. Increasing Vitamin D levels increased weight loss and body fat reduction under the skin of the belly. Findings from the new study were presented at The Endocrine Society’s Annual Meeting in June, 2009, in Washington D.C.

Intake of Vitamin D may be important if you are overweight. Low levels of circulating Vitamin D are observed in obesity. The reason for the low levels of circulating Vitamin D could be partly due to accumulation of Vitamin D inside fat cells. Furthermore, Vitamin D may promote a healthy body by slowing fat cell growth.V

Vitamin intake may be important when dieting. When dieting, caloric intake is drastically reduced which can consequently result in reduced vitamin intake and increased risk of vitamin deficiencies.

Res-Q Multi, our heart-health multivitamin, is intended to supplement the diet. Res-Q Multi provides a full spectrum of vitamins, minerals, and additional heart-health ingredients.

The Vitamin D found in Res-Q Multi is in the form of Vitamin D3, called cholecalciferol, the more biologically active, natural form of Vitamin D. Vitamin D3 is preferred due to its efficient ability to raise blood levels of Vitamin D.

Omega-3 News: Omega-3 Reduces Blood Pressure

Omega-3 News: Omega-3 Reduces Blood Pressure

Intake of omega-3 improved both weight loss and blood pressure. The new study just published in the Journal of Nutrition, reinforces once again, the amazing cardiovascular health potential of the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA. In fact, in this particular study, those obtaining a higher daily intake level of omega-3 fatty acids had better results with blood pressure than those obtaining their omega-3 fatty acids from the cod fish, which provides a lot less omega-3 per 150 grams. Although many studies have linked omega-3 with blood pressure, this population group was on an energy-restricted diet. Reductions occurred in both systolic and diastolic pressure. In other words, improvements were seen in both the top and bottom number. Since there can be many causes of high blood pressure, it is still important to continue to work with your doctor on a treatment plan.
Omega-3 supplements are now recommended by many doctors to improve heart and artery health. Made from omega-3 rich fish from the sardine and herring family, Res-Q 1250 is a potent, pure, and natural omega-3 dietary supplement that provides the proper balance of omega-3 fatty acids for cardiovascular health.
